I desperately needed to get back to studying and these WordPress issues were slowing me down. I DON’T have time to waste, so the website blog idea has been cut. Just not a good enough value in my time/value equation.
I’ll let the website wither and die as a reminder of my sacrifices…
In the meantime, I’ve allowed myself an hour of time at the end of the day to work on the lab. Seems like a wise decision. After all, the main goal here IS to get a new job in IT; specifically to start out as a SOC Analyst.
I DO think I’ll be happy as a clam on the red team eventually. I picture myself working on Automotive Pen Testing one day!
So, back to the lab. I got my old mining rig stripped down to what’s essential to its new role and prepped my new smart switch (I even broke out the old label maker and labeled the ports and cables!)
New NIC (network interface card) popped into the MOBO (motherboard) so I have my sniffing side in as well as the regular ethernet port. Finally it’s on to getting the OS (operating system) flashed onto the SSD (solid state drive). Here’s where the growth really starts for me.
I think I need to install a Linux VM (virtual machine) on my Windows “daily driver” computer. There’s 2 reasons for this 1) I need the experience and 2) I have to Verify the ISO (drive image) I plan on flashing to the SSD. In other words, I have to make sure my security software isn’t corrupted before I give it free range access to EVERYTHING on my network :)
